At the Bird's Nest Pickering's Tabia Charles  competed in long jump at 9:40 a.m. and finished in the top 12 qualifying her for the final on Friday at 7:20 p.m. (7:20 a.m. in Ontario).

The Canadian baseball team beat Netherlands 4-0. They will play Chinese Taipai Wednesday at 6 p.m. (6 a.m. in Ontario).

Isabelle Rampling (Burlington) was sixth with her partner Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon of Montreal in the freestyle synchronized swimming duet Tuesday.  They've qualified for Wednesday's final. Read about Isabelle.

At the Shunyi rowing centre Adam van Koeverden (Oakville) set a new world record with his win in the opening heat of the K1 500.  And Mark Oldershaw (Burlington) finished second in the C1 500 qualifying for the semifinals.

Wayne Fernandes of Mississauga scored two goals to propel Canada to a 5-3 field hockey victory over South Africa.  Read about the win here.

Ashley Holzer (Toronto) competed in the Grand Prix Freestyle in the final leg of individual dressage placing fourteenth.
