Medal hopes sailing away
Little hope for Canadians to win medals
August 20, 2008
BEIJING – Canada's still on the outside looking in at a sailing medal,
with Oskar Johansson and Kevin Stittle holding only slim hopes in the
Tornado class.
Sailing off Qingdao this morning in the
weather-plagued event, Johansson, who lives in Oakville, and Stittle,
living in Orangeville, finished 12th and then second in the two races
for the 15-boat fleet to stand in ninth place with 55 placing points.
Spain
led with 28 points and Australia had 35, with Argentina third on 43
entering the 10th race of the series. At last call, the 10th race had
been delayed by deteriorating conditions.
