AVK finishes eighth, and other Friday competition for GTA athletes

Half a dozen GTA athletes are hoping to make their mark with three days remaining in the Olympics.  All times are local to Ontario.

Adam van Koeverden (Oakville) fell far short of medal contention the K1 1000 final finishing eighth on Friday. The Oakville native has a chance Saturday to redeem himself when he competes in the K2 1000 final at 3:30 p.m.

Brady Reardon (Burlington) and his teammates finished ninth Friday in the K4 1000 final.

Watch for Massimo Bertocchi (Toronto) in the decathlon events.  He's on the field at 7 and 8:15 p.m. (7 and 8:15 a.m. in Toronto) in javelin, and the 1500-metre race at 9:45 p.m.  (9:45 a.m. in Toronto).

Tabia Charles
(Pickering) competes at 7:20 p.m. (7:20 a.m. in Ontario) in the long jump final.

Alexandra Orlando (Toronto) competes at 6 p.m. (6 a.m. in Ontario) in rhythmic gymnastics clubs and ribbons. 

And Pickering's Anson Henry will be on the track in the 4x100-metre relay at 10:10 p.m. (10:10 a.m. in Ontario).
